The Power Joker: A Robert Moses Comedy Show
The Power Joker is a monthly show at Caveat in the LES created by Sam Rogal and Evan Forde Barden. Who amongst us hasn’t seen a copy of The Power Broker on the bookshelf of a friend, party host, hook up, etc. This comedy variety show features NY centric jokes, and the May edition features Blank Check podcast (a podcast about filmography) hosts Griffin Newman and David Sims. The theme for May’s show is NEW YORK ON SCREEN; expect hot takes and laughs at the expense of our beloved city and the movies it stars in.
Saturday May 23 at 7pm. Early bird tickets are $22 until 5/16, after the price goes up to $27. If it doesn’t sell out, tickets will be available at the door.
UCB’s DCM 2026
UCB New York is bringing back the Del Close Marathon, 56 hours of improv from some of the best around across six stages in NYC. Headliners include comics from the Dropout universe, UCB favorites like Paul Scheer, Astronomy Club and Adam Conover, and a special showcase from Asian AF. Shows don’t start until June 12 but badges are available now. More headliners to be announced, and there will be opportunities for workshops and industry mixing.

Ben Mckenzie on WNYC All Of It
Contributed & Written by Rachel Scola
Ben Mckenzie was interviewed on the WNYC podcast All Of It to talk his new documentary ‘Everyone is Lying to You for Money.’ We might remember Ben as The OC heartthrob Ryan Atwood, but Ben has been leading a charge against crypto for years. The doc premiered originally at DOC NYC, and had screenings at IFC and around the city for the month of April. You can view the trailer here.
CAREER CORNER
Applying Online
By Elizabeth Couch
At every major inflection point in my career, I’ve applied for jobs online like I was throwing darts blindfolded — this strategy sucks. It feels bad, it’s random, it makes you feel powerless, and most importantly — it doesn’t work. So what if we changed our approach?
What if, instead of playing darts blindfolded hoping something, anything, will stick, we approached our career like a skilled archer? Taking deliberate aim, understanding the wind conditions, and hitting the bullseye with precision and confidence?
In sales, success follows a predictable pattern:
You generate leads (potential customers)
You qualify those leads (identify the most promising ones)
You engage in meaningful conversations to understand what they care about
You present whatever you’re selling as a solution to their problems
If there’s a mutual fit, you negotiate & close the best possible deal
What if we applied this to your career?
Identify target companies and decision-makers (your leads)
Reach out strategically to build relationships
Have value-driven conversations to understand what they care about (your discovery)
Position yourself as the solution to their problems (your pitch)
Convert opportunities into offers (your close)
Here’s what this shift is really about: taking back your power. When you’re blindly applying, you’re at the mercy of algorithms and overworked recruiters. But when you approach your job search strategically, you’re not just hoping to be picked—you’re actively creating opportunities.
It’s about taking control of your career trajectory instead of waiting for someone to notice your application in a pile of hundreds.
You’re not just another applicant. You’re a high-performing professional who solves problems, creates value, and delivers results. You’re precisely the kind of person companies are desperate to hire—they just don’t know you exist yet. So why are you sitting around waiting to be chosen?
